What?
Eek-A-Mouse. Born in Kingston, Jamaica, and having invented a new vocal style called singjay, which involved scatting with toasting and singing combined, Ripton Joseph Hylton became an acknowledged name in his home country. Working with producer Joe Gibbs in 1979, the successful single Once a Virgin came, Eek-A-Mouse continued by releasing Wa-Do-Dem in 1980, which was just as prosperous.
