Gutvik Ukentlig

What?
A well loved summer tradition, Gutvik Ukentlig is an acclaimed improv arena and opportunity for both established and fresh talent to show their projects. Since 2011 UNGSOLOEN has also been a part of the weekly series, opening up the scene to young, less established solo musicians. This week the freshly formed trio of Elsa Bergman on contrabass, Kristin Andersen on flute and trumpet, and Ketil Gutvik on guitar are performing. Soloist of the week is Hans Kjorstad.

Mndsgn

What?
Mndsgn (or Mind Design) left the New Jersey Suburbia for LA and Stones Throw Records. His debut album “Yawn Zen” was praised by all and established his sound somewhere between Funky Beats, Ambient and Spiritual Jazz.
Following his set are Mutual Intentions. Combining Jazz, Hip Hop and Soul, this is a collective of diverse, exciting and accomplished musicians. Ivan Ave, Charlotte Dos Santos, FredFades, Yogisoul og Sraw are among the contributors, and along with photographer Moe Chakiri, videographer Erik Treiman and a bunch of other people, this is a group to watch out for. Blå keeps booking the good ones!

Gunnar in the Serpent Pit

What?
Based on an old norse myth, Australian director Orryelle has created a musical dance-theatre performance out of the ordinary. Set in the dim, yet spectacular scenes of Emanuel Vigelands Mausoleum, the legend of how Viking Gunnar escaped a serpent pit only using his sisters harp is played out. The performance is followed by Norwegian artists Alwanzatar and Wepwawet(better known from Spectral Haze). As the mausoleum has has a very special acoustic Alwanzatar and Wepwawet uses its reverberation to confound the origins of sound, emanating a funereal fog of sonic incense and anticipating lamentation.Feedback loops, guitar, flute, electronics and chanting are components to be expected.

Honey Dijon

What?
The power trio of gallery Schloss (by Marie-Alix Voisin and Ida Ekblad) and DJ Karima, hosts new club concept Juice Box. Headliner tonight is Honey Dijon. Miss Dijon was raised in a James Bond film yet to be release. She took her first steps in the sticky floored clubs of New York in the 90’s. Here she also spun her first vinyl and made her first acquaintances with house, disco, tech-house, tribal and acid – She knows them all by her not yet corrupted little heart.
